We are excited to announce the latest CAPPS 2025 Metrology Software release! This latest release contains many quality-of-life improvements to the User Interface as well as more streamlined Reporting features.
New Features and Enhancements of CAPPS 2025
Updated: 02.28.2025
Build Number: 8.1.49.366
Curve and Surface Scanning and Reporting
- Quality of life improvements to the Curve Measurements
- Unified dialog for Analog, Laser, and Tactile sensor scanning.
- Optimum ordering of path points with distance sorting and reversing
- Improved simulation tools for all scanning before accepting.
- Allow multiple paths to be combined into one scan.
- Create scanning paths directly from the CAD model, previously created paths, or teach from the machine with live interface.
- Smart optimized via points to avoid points too close to each other.
- Ability to create scan paths from Points, Curves or surfaces to calculate results as points, curves or surfaces.
- Improved non-stop continuous motion blending using arc approach and retract for analog scanning.
- Smart filtering of scan data to remove vibrations and noise effects.
- Multi-axis scanning using linear and table rotations for analog and laser scanning.
- Nominal curves can be created for curves including multi-axis analog scanning.
- Quality of life improvements to the Advanced Surface Points dialog.
- Create scan paths directly from surfaces with UV grid control.
- Create scan paths from surfaces based on directional curves in PCS.
User Interface
- Improved additional control when creating and editing in the Tolerance dialog.
- Many ribbon menus including Probe and Template have a fresh new layout.
- Component information is easier to access in the Probe Builder.
- Probe model file locations are made configurable defining probes.
- Improved interface for the Recall Alignment and Select Sensor dialogs.
- Improved status messages when saving a report to PDF or Microsoft Access
Reporting and GD&T
- Added support for assigning Balloon Numbers to individual characteristics.
- Templates can be used when the associated features are hidden.
- HD image resolutions are available for the graphics Capture and Save commands.
- Improved quality of template text and icons in HD report images.
- Improved speed when capturing HD report images.
- Add notification before sending print job if the printer is offline or unable to print
- Added support for edge points EPROF output to the Form/Profile dialog.
- Improved Datums option for True Position, Composite True Position, & Profile to include workplanes other than XY
Part Compensation
- Compensation for part deflection due to clamping is available for CAPPS-NC. Parts deflection can be calibrated on a CMM and corrections applied on the CNC.
Machine Interfaces
- Simplified the configuration for DEVA controllers includes analog scanning
- Multi axis scanning interfaces for multi-axis table machines.
- Improved support for complex machine kinematics U, V, W staged machine-axis motion.
- New Macro added in CAPPS-NC for management of UVW Movement
- New macro to manage TPC/Traori head motions including machines with non-orthogonal head kinematics
- Improved optimum head indexing to align the probe to feature axis for tilted heads and multi-axis configurations such as mill-turns and table head machines.
- Improved support for dual-pallet machines and dual-spindle machines such as mill-turns
The list above includes all the significant changes since the CAPPS 2024 R2 release, announced in August 2024. More exciting features and enhancements are planned for the next major release of CAPPS.
